Overview

A new institution with a continental mission had to be taken seriously by established leaders from its first day.

The Center for Adventist Leadership Development for Africa (CALDA) was founded in Nairobi to develop Christ-centered leaders for the Seventh-day Adventist Church across Africa: pastors, administrators, and the next generation of leaders, across three of the Church's divisions on the continent.

The ambition was clear. What did not yet exist was the identity to carry it: a brand, a digital home, and a way of communicating that matched the seriousness of the mission.

The Challenge

Credibility had to be designed in, not earned slowly over years.

CALDA needed to speak to two very different audiences at once: senior church and institutional leaders who expect weight and professionalism, and emerging leaders who expect something contemporary. It had to feel unmistakably faith-centered without leaning on generic religious imagery, and African in its roots without feeling tied to any one country.

And it had to feel like one organization everywhere it appeared, from a conference slide to a social post to an email from its leadership.

What We Did

01We built an identity designed to grow

We created CALDA's visual identity and the guidelines that govern it, built to work across countries, programs, events, and documents, and to stay recognizably CALDA as the institution expands.

02We gave the mission a clear digital home

The website opens with CALDA's central promise, Raising Christ-Centered Leaders to Transform Africa, and is organized around how people actually engage: understanding the institution, exploring its programs, attending its events, and getting involved. Programs that could have read as a list of activities now read as one leadership pathway.

03We made every touchpoint feel like the same institution

We extended the identity into the places CALDA meets its audience every day: how its team communicates, and how it shows up on the platforms its leaders use. We also helped the team find its rhythm in the first months after launch, so the brand would be used consistently, not just delivered.

The Result

A new institution that presents itself with the confidence of an established one.

A recognizable identity
One visual language, applied consistently across every channel.
A credible digital home
A website that explains the mission, the programs, and how to take part.
A unified presence
Every touchpoint now reads as the same serious, coherent institution.

CALDA now has the foundation to build awareness, form partnerships, and engage leaders across the continent, and the room to grow without rebuilding.

Our Takeaway

A strong presence for an institution cannot begin with a website alone. The website needs a brand to give it identity. The brand needs consistent use to become recognizable. Building all of it together is what lets a new organization be taken seriously from the start.
